Coptic-style book binding is one of the oldest methods of book binding. It was used in Egypt as early as the 2nd century by early Christians, who were known as Copts. Today the Coptic method is increasingly used by artists to create one-of-a-kind versatile handmade books which can be used as sketchbooks, journals, or for any other book art. Coptic style books are noted for being able to lay open completely flat without risking damaging the spine.
In our Coptic binding class you will be taught hands-on how to make 2 different styles of Coptic-bound books using a variety of materials and 2 different sewing styles.
All materials and tools required will be supplied for use during the course. A light lunch is also included.
This class will run from 10am until 4pm
